Australia is sending a diverse Table Tennis team to the Paris Olympics, consisting of three athletes in their 30s and three teenagers making their Olympic debut. The team includes athletes like Melissa Tapper, who is heading to her third Games, along with Michelle Bromley and Min Hyung Lee in their 30s, and younger players Nicholas Lum, Finn Luu, and Hwan Bae making their Olympic debut.

Tapper, known for being the first Australian to compete in both the Paralympics and Olympics in 2016, will now attend her third Olympics. Bromley, who recently became a mother, will participate in her second Games. The team secured their spots through various qualifications, with Lum and Jee winning the Oceania Mixed Doubles qualification, while others excelled at the selection trials.

The Chef de Mission, Anna Meares, praised the team's mix of experience and youth, highlighting each athlete's unique journey to the Olympics. Tapper expressed her joy at representing her country and inspiring others through her achievements.

Athletes like Jee, Lum, and Bae shared their emotional journeys of qualifying for the Olympics, emphasizing the hard work and dedication required to reach this level of competition. Lum expressed his excitement at fulfilling his childhood dream of representing Australia at the Olympics and shared his journey from being a young player to now competing at the highest level.

The Table Tennis competition at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games will take place at South Paris Arena 4 from Saturday 27 July to Saturday 10 August.
